10th Northern Englishes Workshop

The 10th Northern Englishes Workshop (NEW10), organised by Drs Jo Close, Matt Davies and Helen West from the University of Chester’s Department of English, is coming to Chester in 2024.

Focussing on English varieties associated with the linguistic north of the British Isles, NEW10 will take place in The Garrett Theatre, Storyhouse from 27th to 28th June 2024.

As the conference is taking place in Chester - the gateway to Wales - we welcome papers on Welsh English and English in Wales, particularly those which focus on North Wales. The workshop will also include a special session on representation of dialect or place in spoken or written texts, and abstracts for this session are encouraged.
