All new programmes must conform to the overall frameworks laid down by the University which normally embraces; modules of 20, 40 or 60 credits, with word-counts per module which at undergraduate level are normally 4000 words or equivalent per 20 credits and at postgraduate 4000 to 5500 words or equivalent.

All programmes shall normally have a programme specification which sets out explicit information on content, learning outcomes, teaching, learning and assessment methods and the relationship of the programme and its study to the Framework for Higher Education Qualifications.

The stages in the procedure for approval of new provision are outlined below:

  • Outline proposal
  • Steering
  • Validation or Standing Approval Panel
  • Ongoing monitoring (including CME and APR)
