Highlights from the 2020/21 academic year include some great examples of our Citizen Students leading the way – making their own connections, influencing their future employers and defining the discussions they want to have. As a result, ‘success’ is a much more meaningful picture than academic achievement alone.

Graphic Design and Photography graduate Michael Holden achieved a Bronze in the World Sports Photography Awards.

September
Our Master’s-level Coaching Scholars launched this year’s COVID-safe ‘Chester Rules’ sports and activities programme, with more than 300 attendees during Induction Week.

Our students and graduates were recognised at the National Association of Student Employment Services (NASES) Student Employee of the Year Awards.

PGCE Primary student Megan Potter set up Education Elves, to encourage people to donate to help families struggling at Christmas.

We hosted our first ever virtual Careers Fest, with students and graduates visiting employers in the online ‘Employer Gallery’.

Interior Design student Sophie Downes was chosen as a winner of a national Interior Educators Progressing Student Award.

Students from the Department of Clinical Sciences and Nutrition encouraged visitors stay healthy at their virtual Nutrition Fair.

Fashion Marketing and Communication graduate, Jennifer Hodgson, featured in The Power Issue of Women of the City (WOTC) magazine, as one of 120 female powerhouses and pioneers.

Our Venture Programme hit the milestone of 1,000 students and graduates supported to start a business or set up a freelance career.

Postgraduate research student David Cann’s experimental carbon reduction pilot with PMW Research Ltd was part of the project that won us Research Project of the Year at the Educate North Awards

A student panel chose us to win an influential national award rewarding the best in higher education.
