Applicant Day FAQs
What time does the Applicant Day start and finish?
The timings of the Applicant Day vary depending on your course. You will be advised of timings once you have inputted your details above.
Where does the Applicant Day take place?
The location of your Applicant Day sessions will depend on which subject(s) you have been offered a place for. You will be advised of the location once you have inputted your details on the booking form.
What is the difference between an Applicant Day and an Open Day or Interview Day?
You may have already attended an Open Day prior to making your application. Applicant Days are designed to help you further with your decision on whether to make the University of Chester your Firm or Insurance choice, and are tailored to help you find out more about your course and view University facilities.
There don't seem to be any Applicant Day dates available for me. What should I do?
We recommend that you wait until having received an offer before booking your Applicant Day, to ensure you see the facilities at the campus location that is relevant to you.
If you have not yet applied, or if you have received an offer but our booking system doesn't bring up any dates for your course(s), please contact us by calling 01244 512800 or emailing visitus@chester.ac.uk, so we can advise you on your best options for visiting us.
Which Applicant Day should I be booking onto?
We have different dates depending on what subject(s) you have been offered a place for. By inputting your subject (or both subjects if you have applied for a combined degree), inputting your ten digit UCAS personal ID number, you will be directed to a list of relevant dates from which you can choose when to attend.
What if I have applied for a combined degree?
If you have applied for a combined degree, you will be able to attend sessions for both of your subjects. Simply enter both of your subjects into the booking form and you will be directed to a list of Applicant Day dates to choose from. You do not need to make two separate bookings.
I have booked onto an Applicant Day but can no longer make that date, although I would like to attend another Applicant Day. How do I change the date on my booking?
You will not be able to change the date of your booking, but we can instead cancel your current booking. Then all you need to do is book onto another Applicant Day. To cancel your booking simply call us on 01244 512800 or email visitus@chester.ac.uk.
What if I can't attend any of the Applicant Days for my chosen subject?
For those who cannot make an Applicant Day we offer campus tours throughout the year. To find out more check out our Campus Tour page where you can book onto a tour. If you want to visit but cannot make those dates please email visitus@chester.ac.uk or call 01244 512800 and let us know that you can't make the Applicant Days or set Campus tours and we will try to arrange an ad-hoc tour.
However, we do recommend that you visit on an Applicant Day, if possible, as you will have the opportunity to not only visit the campus but to find out more about your course, the facilities, student finance, accommodation and student life in general. Applicant Days also include an opportunity to speak to our student ambassadors from your faculty who are available to answer any questions about life at the University of Chester.
Can I get help with my travel costs to the Applicant Day?
If you are invited to attend an Applicant Day you may be able to claim up to £100 for yourself and one guest's travel costs. Criteria includes being eligible for free school meals/pupil premium; being a ‘Looked After Child’/have been in local authority care or are a young carer yourself.
