What happens at an applicant day?

Before you get here

The University of Chester has learning sites in Warrington and Birkenhead, in addition to locations across Chester city centre. Where you visit on an applicant day, will depend on your chosen course - all of the details will be in your booking confirmation. If you want to check where your course is based beforehand, do a quick search for your course, where you'll find location details.

Times for each applicant day vary slightly and some subject areas have a later arrival time. The exact timings of your event will be detailed in your booking confirmation email.

You can also claim up to £30 towards your travel costs (open to all offer holders), or find out if you could be eligible to claim up to £100 towards your travel costs through our means-tested travel bursary designed to help under-represented groups into Higher Education.

Frequently asked questions

You may have already attended an Open Day prior to making your application. Applicant Days are designed to help you further with your decision on whether to make the University of Chester your Firm or Insurance choice, and are tailored to help you find out more about your course and view University facilities.

We recommend that you wait until having received an offer before booking your Applicant Day, to ensure you see the facilities at the campus location that is relevant to you.

If you have not yet applied, or if you have received an offer but our booking system doesn't bring up any dates for your course(s), please contact us by calling 01244 512800 or emailing visitus@chester.ac.uk, so we can advise you on your best options for visiting us.

We have different dates depending on what subject(s) you have been offered a place for. By inputting your subject (or both subjects if you have applied for a combined degree), inputting your ten digit UCAS personal ID number, you will be directed to a list of relevant dates from which you can choose when to attend.

If you have applied for a combined degree, you will be able to attend sessions for both of your subjects. Simply enter both of your subjects into the booking form and you will be directed to a list of Applicant Day dates to choose from. You do not need to make two separate bookings.

If you are invited to attend an Applicant Day you may be able to claim up to £100 for yourself and one guest's travel costs. Criteria includes being eligible for free school meals/pupil premium; being a ‘Looked After Child’/have been in local authority care or are a young carer yourself.
