Hi I’m Charles, 23 year old graduate of the FMC course at the University of Chester, class of 2019 with a First Class Honours.
Course:
For me, I always knew I wanted to go into fashion, however not the design side. The course that the University of Chester offered (Fashion Marketing and Communication) appealed to me because of how diverse it is. The course explores so many different aspects of fashion such as fashion branding, fashion marketing, styling, fashion photography, fashion forecasting; the list goes on. This breadth of choice influenced my decision in choosing this course as I was very unsure on where I wanted to actually go within the fashion industry.
Course:
The aspects of the course that I gravitated to the most were content creation, concept development, creating sustainable media and the fundamentals of fashion and styling.
Course:
I was attracted to Chester mainly due to the uniqueness of the course as there are not many that offer you freedom to create your own style of working while also getting strong influences from guest speakers from industry. The university working environment is great and resources are always provided.
Course:
I chose this course because I thought it looked interesting from the website and the statistical information there also looked positive. I got an interview with the Programme Leader and we discussed the course in a lot of detail and the potential careers that can stem from the it. Overall the course sounded very good and covered a broad range of topics within the fashion industry which did interest me a lot. It also sounded like the course offered a lot of creative freedom and opportunities to express ourselves through our work which really appealed to me.
Course:
During my time at the University of Chester, I could explore different photography disciplines and then focus on my preferred choice in my final year – all with the support and guidance of the tutors. I still utilise the words of advice they gave me! Whilst completing my final project in 2016, one of my pictures caught the attention of leading classic car magazine Octane, which in turn proved to be a key moment in propelling my motorsport photography career.
Course:
There is a real emphasis on support and motivation to push your own perceived boundaries on the course, which has proved vital to me throughout my studies and within my career. After graduation I gained a highly coveted place at London College of Fashion to study MA Fashion Photography which was a dream that could only have been realised with the help and honesty from all the staff at Chester.

My name is Zoe I am 22 years old and I live in Chester. I graduated from FMC with an upper 2:1 with interests in buying, marketing and content creation. When I initially left university I moved to Switzerland to do a CRM marketing internship but for personal reasons this did not work out for me.
