Valuble contacts and advice on publicity helped consultancy to grow!

Bridger Consultancy offers advice and support to owners of SMEs using a combination of solutions focussed coaching techniques with business knowledge and experience.

Formed seven years ago by owner and director Samantha Bridger, the consultancy aims to help business owners view their business more objectively and strategically, defining clear steps and actions to achieve goals.

Samantha’s background is in the export industry where she worked for many years before embarking on an MBA. Following a successful three-month consultancy project for the Ford Motor Company, Samantha was hired by Mazda Europe (then part of the Ford group) and spent 10 years in various sales and marketing roles. On returning to the UK, Samantha wanted to use her knowledge and experience to help small businesses overcome their challenges.

Virtual Bootcamp benefits

As the consultancy developed, Samantha was keen to become more confident and proactive in promoting her business to increase her customer base, particularly through Covid-19. Samantha signed up to the Cheshire and Warrington Business Growth Programme, joining the University of Chester’s  Business Bootcamp `Grow, Survive and Thrive’ which was all completed virtually. Samantha said that she was able to meet her goals without the need for one to one contact because the online support was so in depth . Samantha is now part of the Programme’s newly established Facebook Group and says that the experience has been hugely positive. Samantha registered with the Programme in May 2020, completing her objectives a month later and is still engaged with peers met during the process.

Personal growth and development

Samantha said: “I joined the Business Growth Programme as I felt it would be a great refresher and you never know what else you may learn. Key moments have all been personal growth and stretching myself in ways I have not dared to do before, such as hosting an online sales webinar and giving online LinkedIn training.

“The support I have benefited from has included a lot of encouragement and structural feedback. The groups, set up post-course by the team, are so helpful for us all to stay in touch. Also, the team is thinking of us as businesses and where we can be a value-add to other businesses they know, which clearly helps our businesses too.

“The University of Chester programme has been far more useful to me than other similar programmes I have signed up to.”

Key contacts

Samantha added that one of the main benefits has been the contacts she has made; if one of the team makes an introduction, it tends to be beneficial as both the programme and team are known and trusted.

The Cheshire and Warrington Business Growth Programme is funded by the European Regional Development Fund. Entrepreneurs, SMEs and pre-start businesses registered or trading in Cheshire and Warrington, meeting the eligibility criteria, can apply for support. Help is available from our team of Business Engagement Managers and access is also available to facilities at the University of Chester’s Thornton Science Park, Riverside Innovation Centre and the NoWFOOD Centre
