University is the best time to discover what employers are looking for and to gain those skills.  We have many established links with local and national employers, professional bodies and organisations, allowing you to network with employers at on-campus events and workshops and in their workplaces.

We run customised Q&As, where employers visit the University in order to provide information on their opportunities and share their insights into specific professions and what route they took from university into their chosen career.

New for 2017/18 is ASK.  These events will bring employers and students together in an informal environment.  ASK stands for Ask questions, Shape ideas and Kick-start careers.  ASK events will be delivered across all campuses throughout the year, with some evening sessions scheduled, and will be advertised on CareerHub.  Come along to meet other students, employers and careers staff to enhance your employability, to find out what employers really want and how they got to where they are themselves.

ASK events will be advertised through CareerHub.

ASK is the new Work Shadowing which aims to be informal, insightful and inspiring.

Enhance Your Employability (EYE) Training

To help you develop the key skills that graduate employers want, and to enable you to plan and achieve your chosen career after university, we also run regular (and free!) training sessions on everything from CVs, interviews and assessment centres, to confidence building, professional communication, leadership and project management. Students can select sessions to attend in order to build up a strong, tailored portfolio of skills and knowledge.
