At the University of Chester’s catering outlets we are committed to encouraging and developing positive attitudes towards Healthy Eating.  In all outlets, at all meal times, we provide Healthy Eating options which include:

  • Mixing brown rice with white rice
     
  • Mixing brown pasta with white pasta
     
  • The use of wholemeal flour and bran oats in baking
     
  • Low salt available for customers
     
  • The use of vegetable oil
     
  • The use of margarine in cooking
     
  • The use of skimmed milk in cooking
     
  • Products are oven-baked not deep fried
     
  • Chips only on menus once a day
     
  • The use of free range eggs
     
  • Homemade Greek and natural yoghurts
     
  • Fresh salad is available with all meals
     
  • Fresh steamed vegetables
     
  • Fresh fruit available at all meal times
     
  • Offer the same amount of still to sparkling drinks
     
  • Bottled and tap water available
     
  • Organic semi skimmed milk
     
  • Offered skimmed milk with coffee
     
  • Crème fraiche used instead of cream
     
  • Salad bar available at all meals
     
  • Endeavour to reduce the use of sugar in most sweet products
     
  • Continental breakfast is served instead of fried cooked breakfast, porridge and dried and tinned fruits are available.
