These workshops are for students registered on the Work Based and Integrative Studies programmes.

CPED offers a strong portfolio of options for you to negotiate as part of your degree pathway. Some are delivered in powerfully practical workshops held in Chester, and others are facilitated at a distance in the form of online learning or work-based projects.

Our modules cover an array of topics such as communication skills, digital skills, coaching skills, conflict resolution and emotional intelligence to enable you to develop and enhance your skills in the workplace. For the full range of modules, review our module catalogue below and speak with your tutor to integrate those which will have greatest impact in your context.

Writing Days

This is your opportunity to book some time in your diary to work on something YOU need to write. This could be, for example, a module assignment, a Triple NELM, a doctorate or a journal article. This idea is that we will all be writing at the same time and the day will run in short bursts of writing so it isn't overwhelming. This isn't a tutorial session and we won't be asking you to show us what you have written and you won't get feedback on it. It's simply a time for us to come together and write.

These will be online only, not face-to-face. However, if you want to come to campus and work in one of the libraries, you could book yourself a space and join in via your phone/laptop/tablet.

Writing Days will be led by Sandra Hopkins and/or Jan Jones on these dates:

  • 16th August 2023
  • 13th September 2023
  • 18th October 2023
  • 22nd November 2023
  • 13th December 2023
  • 17th January 2024
  • 14th February 2024
  • 13th March 2024
  • 10th April 2024
  • 15th May 2024
  • 12th June 2024
  • 17th July 2024

The schedule for each day will be strict and as follows:

  • 10 to 10.10am: Intros and expectations of the day
  • 10.10 to 10.30am: A quick exercise to get you in the mood for writing
  • 10.30 to 11.30am: Writing time
  • 11.30 to 11.45am: Break
  • 11.45 to 12.45pm: Writing time
