Home and EU applicants
International (Non-EU) applicants 

Undergraduate (UK/EU applicants)

1. You must check that you meet the following requirements:

  • You must be a UK/EU citizen (or have permanent residence in the UK or have indefinite leave to enter/remain).
  • You must be in work (paid or unpaid) with some responsibility for your own work tasks.
  • There are no other formal entry requirements, but you must demonstrate your determination, commitment and self-direction through your application.

2. If you meet the above criteria, complete the WBIS Undergraduate Application Form.

3. Send your application to the address on the last page of the application form (CWRS, PD, University of Chester, Parkgate Road, Chester CH1 4BJ)

5. If you are successful, we will inform you as soon as we can, along with information about how to enrol, pay, and start your programme. You will also be given details about who your main academic advisor will be during your studies (a senior academic within the CWRS faculty team).

Postgraduate (UK/EU applicants)

1. You must check that you meet the following requirements:

  • You must be a UK/EU citizen (or have permanent residence in the UK or have indefinite leave to enter/remain).
  • You must be in work (paid or unpaid) with some management responsibility for your own work tasks.
  • We expect you to either have an undergraduate degree (BA Hons, BSc Hons, BEng, Bed, etc) or have developed exceptional high-level skills through experience.

2. If you meet the above criteria, please submit your application via the AIMS system. For more information consult the Postgraduate How to Apply webpage

3. Your application will then be processed by admissions and forwarded to the programme leader fo a decision to be made.

5. If you are successful, we will inform you as soon as we can, along with information about how to enrol, pay, and start your programme. You will also be given details about who your main academic advisor will be during your studies (a senior academic within the CWRS faculty team).

Distance Learning (Non-EU applicants)

1. You must check that you meet the following requirements:

Undergraduate (BA/BSc Hons)

  • You must be a citizen from outside the UK and EU (and not have permanent residence in the UK and not have indefinite leave to enter/remain).
  • You must be in work (paid or unpaid) with some responsibility for your own work tasks.
  • You must have achieved an English language qualification of at least IELTS 6.5 (with no less than 5.5 in any band) - or equivalent.
  • Have access to a reliable internet/broadband connection (to access materials and Skype tutorials with their dedicated faculty speciliast).
  • FOR BA/BSc Hons TOP-UP ONLY: You must have successfully achieved appropriate certificated learning to the equivalent of 240 UK credits.

Postgraduate (MA/MSc/MBA)

  • You must be a citizen from outside the UK and EU (and not have permanent residence in the UK and not have indefinite leave to enter/remain).
  • You must be in work (paid or unpaid) with some management responsibility for your own work tasks.
  • You must have achieved an English language qualification of at least IELTS 6.5 (with no less than 5.5 in any band) - or equivalent.
  • Have an undergraduate degree or have developed exceptional high-level skills through experience.
  • Have access to a reliable internet/broadband connection (to access materials and Skype tutorials with their dedicated faculty speciliast)
  • FOR MA/MSc TOP UP ONLY: You must have successfully achieved appropriate certificated learning to the equivalent of 120 UK credits at Master’s level - including Research Methods training (We have another route for those without Research Methods training, please contact the CWRS team.)

2. If you meet the above criteria, complete the International WBIS Application Form

Please make sure you write a detailed Personal Statement in your application which clearly indicates your knowledge of the programme you have applied for (negotiated, work based learning), your motivation to study it, and how you and your work will directly benefit from it.

The final page of this document lists all of the required documents to send with your application. Please send this with your application, or your application may be delayed or rejected.

5. If you are successful, we will send you an offer letter along with information about how to accept your offer and how to secure your place on the course. You will also be given details about who your main academic advisor will be during your studies (a senior academic within the CWRS faculty team).

If successful, the offer will be:

  • Unconditional - which means you can start your course after the University receives your acceptance of the offer plus a deposit.
  • Conditional - which means you will complete the actions requested of you in the offer letter, such as provide additional documents or meet English language requirements. These must be completed before you are allowed to start your course.
