We recognise that this is a worrying and difficult time for the University community and many are anxious about the spread of COVID-19. We have approved protocols in place for reporting of the virus and dedicated experienced teams on hand to provide advice and guidance.

A quick reminder that staff must email: covidstaff@chester.ac.uk and line managers:

  • If you have symptoms of COVID-19
  • If you have tested positive for COVID-19 
  • If you have been contacted by NHS Test & Trace and told to self-isolate
  • If a member of your household bubble has symptoms or has tested positive for COVID-19 

Once we have received your email, a member of the HR COVID Response Team will then contact you as soon as possible to offer support and guide you through the testing procedure and/or contact tracing process. Remember it is vitally important that you self-isolate immediately if you develop any symptoms or have tested positive for COVID-19. 

​You will also be asked to provide details of the people at the University who have been in close contact with you within the 48 hours before you developed symptoms. This is so that if you test positive, we will be able to get in touch with them and minimise the virus spreading further, by advising them they need to self-isolate.

Contact tracing also helps us to know where an infected person has been on campus, so that Domestic Services staff can ensure those areas are deep cleaned and brought back into use.

This process works alongside the NHS Test and Trace system, the COVID Response Team will liaise with them on your behalf where necessary but staff are encouraged to download the NHS app to support in keeping the University safe.
