ID Verification Sessions

You should only attend an ID Verification session once you have received a request from the University to apply for a DBS Disclosure, have completed the form online, paid for the check and received a confirmation email.

Whilst attending an ID Verification session is necessary in order to complete your DBS certificate application.  

You may register for whichever ID Verification Session is most convenient for you, do NOT attend unless you have booked an appointment.

Dates of DBS ID Verification Sessions

To arrange a DBS ID Verification Session at the following sites, please follow the instructions below

University Centre Warrington: Please email enquiries@chester.ac.uk with the subject line ‘DBS ID Verification’.

University Centre Shrewsury: TBC

Attendance at all student ID Verification sessions must be pre-booked and is by ticket only.  Sessions will take place at each of the University's main sites University’s Exton Park Site, Parkgate Road, Chester, CH1 4BJ.

Due to limited space available for queuing you are requested not to attend for the ID Verification session before the start time above to avoid excessive waiting.

You will need to bring the following items to a ID Verification session:

  1. Ticket and evidence of fee

    You MUST bring your ticket for entry to the Session and your receipt showing payment for the check. 

  2. ID Documents

    You should bring along all of the identity documents that you have used on the online form. These must be official copies - not photocopies or print outs. Between these documents we must obtain evidence of your current full name, date of birth and current address. 

  3. Good Conduct Declaration Form 

    You should print and complete the Good Conduct Declaration Form at home. If necessary, you should also bring a list of any overseas addresses from the previous five years.

Other Checks
Applicants should note that they may also be required to complete other relevant checks to demonstrate suitability or fitness to practice including completion of an Occupational Health Assessment. The University may withdraw the offer of a place if you fail to provide satisfactory Occupational Health clearance.

The University is also required by the Department for Education's  Initial Teacher Education Criteria 1.3 to check that applicants for PGCE, BA QTS or other Initial Teacher Education programmes, are not subject to a prohibition order issued by the Secretary of State and are not Disqualified by Association under the Childcare Act 2006.  

Information for Existing Students
Existing students registering for WB5101 will find the dates, times and venue of the ID Verification sessions on the module space in Portal.

Information for Staff
Applicants for positions of employment at the University should contact Human Resources to arrange a ID Verification session.

The DBS Update Service and Tracking your DBS Application

Once you have completed a DBS application through the Univerity and attended a ID Verification session you will receive an email advising you that the form has been dispatched to the DBS. This email will also give you your form reference number which you will need to subscribe to the DBS Update Service

You are strongly advised to subscribe to the DBS Update Service.  In order to do so you must subscribe within 19 days from the date of your DBS Certificate in order to complete the University safeguarding requirements. 

To be able to track the progress of your application you will also need your form reference number. You can track your DBS application online.

Pay for your DBS check
Applicants for the Pre-registration Nursing, Pre-registration Midwifery,  MSc and BSc Nutrition and Dietetics, whilst liable for the fee, do NOT need to pay for the DBS check at this stage; the cost will be covered by the NHS. However, applicants will need to pay to subscribe to the DBS Update Service.

Failure to complete the DBS process may result in serious implications for your continued enrolment on the programme. This process MUST be completed before the commencement of your studies.
