Together we aim to make a positive difference to the life chances of children, students and learners reflecting the diversity of our global community. Working with partner schools and colleges, communities near and far, we encourage and support access into higher education, transition into and success during University-level study and progression beyond it.

Within the University, the team supports success for all students and apprenticeship learners through their Citizen Student journeys. We have a dedicated Study Skills Service providing one-to-one support as well as online workshops and webinars. Our team also works alongside academic colleagues within the Faculties to support the embedding of skills into the courses.

We work in partnership with a range businesses, Authorities and Health Care Trusts to facilitate the delivery of Apprenticeship programmes. Apprenticeships combine working with studying part-time at university. Learners spend 20% (minimum) of their time “off-the job” to focus on learning which supports their employment. Learners can in many cases gain an Undergraduate or a Postgraduate degree qualification on completion of the Apprenticeship Programme. The Apprenticeship Programmes are developed with universities, employers and professional bodies working in partnership to address the knowledge, skills and behaviours of a particular apprenticeship standard.

Through our Access and Participation commitments, our students and apprenticeship learners are very much placed at the heart of our service.
