As an experienced Career Consultant working with undergraduates, graduates, academics and employers covering a range of subjects, you can ask me for advice and guidance to help you plan your future and to enhance your employability. I deliver guidance which is inclusive, welcoming, impartial, informed and tailored to individual personal goals and aspirations.
What piece of advice would you give to a Level 6 student about to graduate?
Use a range of vacancy websites (including CareerHub – careers.chester.ac.uk) to check for jobs; try smaller companies as these opportunities may be less competitive; and make sure you match what the employer is looking for when you write your application.
What piece of advice would you give to a Level 4 student just starting University?
Get involved! Join clubs and societies, this is a great way to develop your transferable skills.
What motivates you in your work?
Helping people realise their potential and develop their employability skills
How do you relax when not at work?
I enjoy cycling and walking in the countryside
With which academic departments do you work?
I work closely with the Science and Engineering Faculty courses at Thornton Science Park (including Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Physics with Material Science, Applied Chemistry and Biotechnology, Natural Sciences, Mathematics, Computer Science, Cyber Security, Games Development and Software Engineering). At Warrington I work with Policing and Criminal Investigation, Social Work and Education, while also seeing students from other courses through guidance and drop in appointments.
