About Helen Farrall

What areas of service should I ask you about?

I provide administrative support within the Employment Opportunities Team. Ask me in particular about the Student Employee Of The Year Awards and advertising vacancies as well as other C&E services on social media.

What piece of advice would you give to a Level 6 student about to graduate?

You never know what a job will lead to so when you’re looking for work, don’t discount a part-time job, a temporary contract or a job that just pays the bills. It might grow and change and open up a world of opportunities.

What piece of advice would you give to a Level 4 student just starting University?

Have fun with your friends at uni but keep your eyes peeled for employability opportunities and grab them while you can.  Whether it’s a part-time job, a free training session or volunteering, that could be fun too and the rewards can be amazing.

What motivates you in your work?

Being part of an enthusiastic team.  Using my skills and abilities to the full and feeling like ‘I’m good at this. Seeing people grow and change.

How do you relax when not at work?

Walking in the countryside, jogging, cooking and baking, watching sci-fi, horror films or costume dramas

What is your biggest career achievement?

Getting paid work as a freelance counsellor

With which academic departments do you work?

None directly but I target relevant departments to advertise vacancies on social media.
