About Helen Webster
What areas should you ask me about?
Ask me about the Careers and Employability frontline services, including what we offer and how to access support. Ask me advice on how to construct an application document, e.g. CV, personal statement or cover letter, and about further resources to help you get the best out of your application, as well as other career resources, including resources specific to our international student population.
What piece of advice would you give to a Level 6 student about to graduate?
Be kind to yourself and enjoy the process of exploring your career. Do lots of interesting things, take up opportunities and training and be honest with yourself about what you want to, and don’t want to, do.
What piece of advice would you give to a Level 4 student just starting University?
Enjoy your time at University as it will go so quickly! Make sure, as well as keeping on top of your studies, that you explore the local area, making sure you also cross the border to discover Wales, undertake extra-curricular activities that you enjoy, keep learning, both academically and non-academically, and stay healthy.
What motivates you in your work?
Speaking to students, nice people and coffee.
How do you relax when not at work?
Running.
What is your biggest career achievement?
Having spent time as a Special Constable in Cheshire Police.
With which academic departments do you work?
I work more with students than staff, but do answer ad hoc queries from staff, from any department, who get in touch.
