About Vikki Brockhurst
- What areas of service should I ask you about?
As a Careers Consultant I can help you with CVs and Cover Letters, with applications and interviews and I can help you to explore your career ideas and plans. You may also see me at various training sessions and workshops aimed at developing your employability.
- What piece of advice would you give to a Level 6 student about to graduate?
Don’t be afraid of the next step. Remember that we can help you with whatever you may want to do next, so come and see us.
- What piece of advice would you give to a Level 4 student just starting University?
Enjoy every minute. Take any opportunities that come your way and if none come your way create them. University provides an excellent opportunity to find out about yourself and the world around you and there will be plenty of opportunities to develop personally and professionally if you look for them.
- What motivates you in your work?
I am motivated by working with a proactive and innovative team and by having the ability to engage with students and graduates to enable them to take their next step.
- How do you relax when not at work?
I enjoy spending time with family and friends (although I’m sure my teenage son would prefer me to find another hobby…). I enjoy watching rugby, spending many an hour on the touchline in the rain, watching the kids play and I’m also a keen Wales supporter.
- What is your biggest career achievement?
Finding a career that I thoroughly enjoy but also undertaking and completing postgraduate study whilst working and managing the busy sporting and social lives of 2 boys.
- With which academic departments do you work?
Geography, International Development, Natural Hazard Management, Performing Arts, and Social and Political Sciences.
