About Andrew Wolstenholme
Prior to joining the University I spent 30 years in industry, 15 of those years running my own Big Data IT business focussing on airlines. My career highlight was when my company was honoured with a Queens Award for Enterprise in International Trade and I attended a reception hosted by Her Majesty The Queen at Buckingham Palace.
After studying Electronic Engineering and completing a PhD in the optical properties of semiconductors at the University of Sheffield I became a software engineer before building my own business. Much of my career has been face to face in front of customers from around the world, explaining how our IT solutions work. I now enjoy using those same skills to teach our students. I am passionate about ensuring that students learn the relevance of their studies and how they apply to real-world situations.
