About Dr Phil Smith

He has enjoyed an extensive career in consumer environments, which includes over 35 years’ experience of holding key management roles for household name retail businesses such as Asda and B&Q. He has held major positions to Managing Director level in international businesses such as Dutch owned SHV-Makro and French conglomerate Saint-Gobain. He brings this real-world understanding within his academic teaching to enhance classroom engagement and student learning.

Teaching

Dr Smith started teaching students at Chester Business School in 2013, as a Visiting Lecture, now as a part-time faculty member.
