About Dr Lee Speakman

Leads the Cyber Team at the University of Chester. Programme Leader for the UG (BSc) and PG (MSc) Cybersecurity programmes.
Research interests in Software and System Security.

Teaching

5 years’ experience of teaching and Fellow of the HEA. Currently teaching from Level 4-7 (BSc and MSc):  Foundation of Cybersecurity;  Ethical Hacking;  Advanced Programming for Cybersecurity;  Cyber Concepts and Techniques;  Digital Forensics and Incident Response;  and Software Exploitation and Security.

Research

My research interests in general encompasses computer science, networks, and cybersecurity. Particularly, I am interested in software protection methods in both general and specialised systems, including CFI (Control Flow Integrity) and holistic approaches – involving integrated techniques and defense in depth, separation of concerns, isolation, and so forth.  I am particularly interested in novel uses of the hypervisor and supervisor modes, effectively taking a clean-slate approach to software, and a variety of other security by design approaches.
