About Andy Connell, BSc (Hons); PGCE; MA; NPQH; FFCCT; SFHEA.

Andy is Strategic lead for Innovation and Digital Presence in the Faculty and the Management presence at UCS.  He was formally Head of Group at UCS, before that Head of Initial Teacher Education at the University of Chester.  Andy is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, Founding Fellow of the Chartered College of Teachers, Director of the Council for Subject Associations, Treasurer for the Technology and Pedagogy and Education Association (TPEA) and a long-standing executive committee member of the Association for Information Technology in Teacher Education (ITTE).  He has been on a number of national subject expert groups for Computing and ICT and on several advisory groups on Teacher Standards.  He was previously at Keele University, where he was Director of PGCE and Director of Subject Knowledge Enhancement (SKE) provision. Before that, he was Associate Director of PGCE Secondary and Course Leader for PGCE ICT at Liverpool Hope University.  Prior to moving into Higher Education, Andy was a teacher and Head of Computing and Business in secondary schools and taught in primary schools.

Research interests include Spirituality and Leadership in Faith Schools, Pedagogy of Computing, Mentoring and Coaching of Teachers, Leadership of Initial Teacher Education.
