About Steven Tones
Prior to joining the Faculty of Education and Children's Services at the University of Chester, Steven’s early career was spent teaching Physical Education, Geography and Geology in Cheshire Secondary Schools. Later he became Head of Physical Education at Priestley Sixth Form College in Warrington where he was instrumental in setting up the first ‘A’ Level Sports Studies programme. Alongside this he worked as a Phase Advisor in Cheshire (District 6) with a remit to support and develop the teaching of Primary School Physical Education.
Steven's external education roles include: External Examiner at the University of Worcester; Visiting Coach Educator at Wesley College, Dover Delaware, USA; Visiting Education Lecturer at Jyvaskyla University, Finland; Visiting Education Lecturer at Bethlehem University, Palestine; Visiting Education Lecturer at Al Quds University, East Jerusalem, Palestine.
He is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
In addition Steven is a Coach Mentor to the England Partially Sighted Futsal Squad and works with The Football Association in the area of reflective learning and mentoring.
