About Vicki Silver

Prior to becoming a University Lecturer in 2011, I worked for the Health Service, taught in Primary School, ran an Outdoor Education Centre, and was a Children’s Workforce Development Manager for a Local Authority. Leading and teaching on the BA Childhood and Youth Professional Studies at the University of Chester since 2013, and at University Centre Shrewsbury since 2015, has been an incredible privilege, and extremely rewarding. Through the course, I have been able to teach and support those for whom children and young people’s learning and development is a fundamental motivation, and support them on their career development pathway to making a difference to children’s lives. As many adults could not, did not or weren’t ready to complete a degree course when they left school, a lot of my work and teaching is about enabling those people to achieve this goal when they are ready to.

From 2013-2018, I was Programme Leader and have taught on and lead most of the modules on the programme. In addition, I have taught module on the following programmes:
BA Early Childhood Studies (including) Play in the Early Years, Language and Learning, Safeguarding) BA Education (Lifelong Learning), MA Early Childhood (Leadership & Management),
Safeguarding CPD and contribution to a range of Education and Children’s Services programmes.
