Marketing is the creative part of business - the art (or science) of anticipating and meeting customer needs profitably. It is about developing, promoting and pricing a product in the way most likely to tempt target audiences. It means understanding people’s motivation and behaviour but also seizing the opportunities of new technology and changing customer habits. Marketing is fast moving, it’s exciting and it’s fun. And it presents loads of career opportunities.
Our undergraduate and postgraduate degrees are designed by our specialist team with current industry experts to make sure that they create young professionals ready to make a mark in business. Our students all learn key business skills including organisational management, forward planning, sales and negotiation alongside their more specialist marketing classes. Their degrees all include live projects and work experience on full year or five week placements. Students benefit from industry visits and regular guest speakers to expose them to the industry’s cutting edge. We work closely with the Chartered Institute of Marketing so that our students’ degrees have the professional recognition to give them a head start in their careers.
Our academic team includes specialists in consumer behaviour, digital communication and place marketing who all relish sharing their expertise and experience. Our Marketing undergraduate degree programme leader, Jane Martin, even co-wrote the textbook, Essentials of Marketing, that introduces our first years to the subject!
