About Colin Potts

I am a former President of the Tourism Management Institute, the national body of destination managers and have chaired several other UK tourism organisations. My publications include national guidance on measuring return on tourism marketing campaigns and on operating Tourist Information Centres, and numerous destination plans including Chester's Tourism and Place Marketing Strategies.

I teach mainly on Marketing, Tourism & Events Management modules at levels 4-6. I also teach on some Business modules.


I have a particular interest in destination planning and development, in widening understanding of the visitor economy, in measuring places’ performance and in place marketing.
