About Dr Carolina Font Palma

Carolina graduated as a chemical engineer from Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM). She then went to the University of Toronto to complete a master's degree in the Department of Chemical Engineering and Applied Science, analysing aerosols using surface analytical techniques, followed by an Associate Research position in the area of air pollution at CIATEJ, Mexico. A new interest for waste to energy motivated her to obtain a PhD in 2012 on the ‘Modelling of gasification of poultry litter’ at the University of Manchester. Before joining the University of Chester, she worked as a Research Fellow at the University of Leeds within the Energy Technology Innovation Initiative (ETII), in projects involving the process simulation of power plants integrated with carbon capture.

Carolina's research makes use of process simulation techniques to evaluate and improve process design.  Her research interests include:
