About Julia Gorle

Julia’s research crosses both disciplines of Psychology and Counselling and is focused on the exploration of the theory of emotional contagion (Hatfield, Rapson & Cacioppo, 1994) in counselling practitioners. She is conducting a series of studies which will test this theory and identify how counsellors and clients converge emotionally when in therapy. Using a mixed methods design, the studies will explore   the processes of emotional convergence and determine how much of the sharing of emotions between a counsellor and a client can be attributed to emotion contagion.

Julia has experience of assistant teaching and marking for Module PS5015 Becoming a Psychological Researcher
