About Dr Wayne Campbell

Wayne was appointed as a lecturer in Criminology at the University of Chester in September 2019. He has previous teaching experience as a Visiting Lecturer at multiple Universities, having taught across both undergraduate and postgraduate levels of study. Wayne was awarded his doctorate in 2019 for his thesis titled “The roles, motivations, and capacities of the community in the desistance process: A case study of the Knowsley area”. He has a keen interest in criminal justice policy and practice, specifically; the experiences of offenders pre-, during and post custody. With the aim of finding solutions in practice to improve rehabilitation and reduce offenders future likelihoods of re-offending.

Teaching

Wayne is module leader and lecturer on the following modules:

Level 5 – Theories of Crime and Justice                                                                                                                            

Level 6 – Punishments and Penology                                                                                                                         

He also provides dissertation/thesis supervision to undergraduate students.
