About David Horrocks

Prior to joining the University, Dave's career evolved from delivering a range of outdoor activity focused educational initiatives to teaching sport and leisure related courses in the FE sector. Dave is currently the Programme Leader for the BA (Hons) Sport Development programmes and BA (Hons) Sport Development and Coaching programme. His main interests from an academic perspective include; sport sociology, sport marketing and contemporary issues, particularly those that relate to gender and ethnicity.

Within the wider community Dave is actively involved in a range of sporting activities both as a participant and as a volunteer.  In terms of the latter, he has worked extensively with COMAST the City of Manchester’s elite swim programme.

 

Teaching

Dave teaches across all three years on both Foundation Degree and BA (Honours) Degree undergraduate programmes at the Warrington campus. His present teaching includes the following modules:

  • Student Conference: Issues in Sport and Physical Activity (Level 6)
