About Matt Fairbank

I completed my undergraduate degree at the University of Chester, where I went on to complete my MSc in Physiology. For the last few months of my undergraduate and during my MSc I worked as the sport scientist for Widnes Vikings RLFC the Super League competition. After completing my MSc I was accepted onto an MPhil at the University of Chester in collaboration with St Helens RFC, where I am currently in my second season as first grade sport scientist.


Research Interests

  • The types of training used in the elite sporting environment and the physiological effects of these types of training and how they affect ‘performance’.
