Tuesday, September 8

2pm

Reunion opens - Welcome to Reunion 2020! This is when you’ll be able to start accessing all our content through our dedicated Reunion 2020 web pages – simply follow the link you receive in your registration confirmation email.

3 - 4pm Virtual Chaplaincy Service - Join us for a special virtual Chapel Service, led by the University’s Chaplaincy team.
4.30 - 6pm

Alumni Zoom Meet-Up: All years welcome! - You may already be familiar with our Virtual Alumni Meet-Ups which the DARO team hosted weekly throughout lockdown. This Reunion Meet-Up will be a similar chance to relax and chat with your fellow alumni from across the years, but for a whole extra hour! We will also be offering breakout rooms for decades or groups, and even have special University of Chester themed Zoom backgrounds available for you to download in advance!

6 - 7pm

Dinner Break: A chance to browse all of our Reunion content online - This is your chance to take some time to explore our dedicated Reunion 2020 web pages – browse our photo galleries, listen to music, hear from our alumni authors and more!

7 - 8.30pm

The Big Alumni Zoom Quiz - Who doesn’t love a quiz? It’s time to put those pub quiz skills to the test and join us for this fun, informal event!

Wednesday, September 9

10 - 11am

Sports in Chester Past and Present: Live chat with Director of Sport Gordon Reay - This lively session will be hosted by our Director of Sport, and Chester alumnus, Gordon Reay (2000). You’ll have the chance to hear about what sport is like at the University today, learn how Gordon and his team are overcoming the challenges that Covid-19 presents, and chat informally with other alumni with a sporting interest. Bring your own sports stories along too!

11am - 12pm

Business Growth Club Networking Session* - For this session, our colleagues from Commercial Communications will be bringing together speakers from across the University, including the Business School, the Cheshire and Warrington Business Growth Programme, the new Accelerate Programme, Employer Engagement and more. This will be combined with presentations from expert delivery partners, followed by a chance to ask questions. Come along and join the University of Chester’s thriving business community for a unique networking opportunity!

12 - 1pm

International Office Alumni Meet-Up* - This exciting session will be hosted by our colleagues in the International Office, who will be bringing together international alumni from across the years. Come along to learn more about the International Office and share your experiences as an international student, and what you’ve been up to since graduating.

2 - 3pm

Alumni Armed Forces Community Meet-Up with Westminster Centre for Research in Veterans - Join us for this Alumni Armed Forces Community Meet-Up, hosted by our friends at the Westminster Centre for Research in Veterans – including Dr Alan Finnegan, Co-Director of the Centre, and Director of Nursing & Military Mental Health at the University. Before coming to the University, Alan had a long career in the British Army, reaching the rank of Colonel. Come along to hear about the work of the Centre, Alan’s military background, and to have an informal chat with other members of our Armed Forces Community.

2 - 3pm

History Session: Victorian Architecture on Parkgate Road - An opportunity to explore two architectural gems, the University of Chester’s historic Chapel, and the John Douglas designed Vicarage. This illustrated talk will explore the ways in which Victorian architecture reflects the ideas and attitudes of the era, whilst providing an introduction to some of the architectural highlights of Parkgate Road. An illustrative handout will also be available to download.

3 - 4pm

History Session: Western Command – Churchill Building - An exploration of the original historic 1937 Western Command building and its surroundings. This illustrated talk includes a historical overview of the site, as well as the architectural influences and events that have shaped the building. An illustrative handout will also be available to download.

3.45 - 4.30pm

Virtual Afternoon Tea - Join the Class of 1972 and the DARO team for a chance to catch up with fellow alumni for Afternoon Tea - all years welcome! Either pop along just to have a chat, or go all out and come prepared with your choice of scones, sandwiches and cakes. And of course, don't forget the tea - the perfect excuse to show off your favourite tea set!

4 - 6pm

Teacher Development Module with the Faculty of Education* - The Faculty of Education and Children’s Services at the University is offering a free taster module that will serve as an introduction to Postgraduate study, and focus on teacher development through reflective practice. Please note that this online module comprises of three 2-hour sessions, the first of which is on Wednesday, September 2. Once registered for Reunion you will receive details of how to sign-up for this module.

5 - 6pm

Societies in Chester Past and Present: Live chat with Chester Students’ Union (CSU) Vice-President Activities - Join us for this fantastic opportunity to hear from CSU’s new Vice-President Activities, Daniel Forrester. Daniel will be discussing the exciting things happening with societies at the University this year. Bring along your own stories to share about the clubs and societies you were involved in during your time at Chester!

6.45 - 8.30pm

Virtual Reunion Dinner - Join us for our very first virtual Reunion Dinner. Our award-winning Catering team have put together a special menu which you can make yourself at home or buy from the supermarket. Whether you will be following the menu or just popping along to say hello, we would to see you there! We will have Zoom break-out rooms in place of our usual table plan. Members of our Catering team will be in attendance, as well as some of our new Chester Students’ Union officers! This truly special event is not to be missed!

Thursday, September 10

10 - 11am

Looking to our Future: Young Alumni Meet-Up - This session will bring together our young alumni, including young alumni staff, to talk about their experiences studying at the University, graduating and beginning their careers. All are welcome to join and listen to the discussion!

11am - 12pm

Farewell Coffee Session: All years welcome! - Join us for this final session to let us know what you thought of Reunion 2020! It’s also a chance to catch up with fellow alumni you may have met during other events, and share ideas for how you’d like to celebrate Reunion in the future.
