Our HLTA Preparation Course 2022-23 has recently finished, but we look forward to welcoming another cohort soon. Dates of the next intake will be announced in due course - register your interest to be alerted as soon as the dates are available.

The Process

  1. Request information

Email APPpartnership@chester.ac.uk to get more information and register your interest.

  2. Apply

Once applications are open, complete and return your application form.

  3. Preparation course

Attend the Preparation course via our virtual classroom over six afternoons. All sessions take place from 1pm to 4pm.

  4. Assessment

Assessment by Regional Provider of Assessment (HLTA North). This involves a 3-hour visit to your workplace by the Assessor to interview you, your Headteacher/Representative and another qualified Teacher, to verify the evidence in your written tasks. (N.B. there is NO classroom observation).

Funding

Some candidates are funded, either in full or part, by their employers as part of the commitment to continuing professional development for all staff.

Others are self-funded, seeing the HLTA status as an investment which enhances their career prospects and a tool to open the door to new opportunities.
