Marketing Management MSc, Marketing Job, Graduate Story, Graduate Loyalty Discount

MSc Marketing Management graduate, Eloisa shares how the course has strengthened her skillset and helped her to stand out in the Digital Media jobs market.

Eloisa took advantage of the University of Chester’s Graduate Loyalty Discount to help her afford her Masters degree in Marketing Management and now tells us how this has shaped her future.

Why did you choose to study MSc Marketing Management?

I come from Amlwch, a small town in Anglesey, North Wales. Before I started the MSc Marketing Management course, I had spent three years living in Accommodation at the University of Chester, studying BA Hons Marketing Management. My undergraduate degree provided me with a solid understanding of marketing principles and techniques, which I now adopt and use frequently in my new role. I have a real passion for marketing and have found the lecturers within Chester Business School very supportive throughout my studies. I achieved a First-Class degree, but due to the heavily competitive graduate market, I wanted to find ways to strengthen my CV. This had led to my interest in pursuing a Masters.

How has the course helped your professional development?

I would highly recommend this course because it gave me an opportunity to strengthen my CV and apply for attractive marketing jobs. The course gives a great insight into marketing subjects while also covering important business areas such as finance, human resources and managing innovation. I found this highly advantageous for my professional development as I had not covered these business areas since A Level. The marketing elements of the course encompassed a practical aspect to the assignments which I found useful to discuss at job interviews as successful marketing examples. For example, I produced a full digital marketing plan which incorporated information on different tactics to encourage customers through the buying process.

I received great support from the tutors at Chester Business School. As I commuted to Chester for the MSc, I appreciated the virtual support through Microsoft Teams meetings and emails. As I completed my undergraduate degree at Chester too, I was able to access the Graduate Loyalty Discount, towards the cost of study, which was an added benefit!

What is Chester like as a place to study?

I have always loved the City of Chester and glad I chose to study both my undergraduate and postgraduate degree here. Although Chester is smaller than some of the other university locations, there is still a lot to do. Chester has a great nightlife with plenty of restaurants and shops. There’s also a historic vibe to the city which makes it unique. I really liked the location of Queens Park (where all business programmes are based), as I used to enjoy the walk to University from town, it is a beautiful location. Everything is also central.
