THINGS WE SEE
Jasmine Welch

A bearded gentleman sips coffee in the corner of a market café.
He keeps one arm placed firmly on top of a wicker basket.
We hear the basket snarl.

An old man sleeps rough in the doorway of an antiques shop.
He reads Hard Times and chuckles to himself.

A little girl in a raincoat feeds squirrels in the park, one autumn afternoon.
The squirrels bury Smarties and jelly sweets; ready for winter.
