Dr Brenda Garvey and Prof Timo Obergöker teach French Studies at the University of Chester. In this talk, they will introduce the French author, Annie Ernaux, who was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature in 2022. They will discuss her key texts, as well as exploring the core themes Ernaux addresses in her writing. Finally, the talk will consider her importance within contemporary French literature and present some of the controversies her work has sparked.
