Dr Claire Chatterton, Associate Head of School for Health and Social Care and Social, Open University and Visiting Professor, University of Chester, and Professor Elizabeth Mason-Whitehead, Associate Director, Chester Medical School
To mark the 170th anniversary of the beginning of the Crimean War, Elizabeth Mason-Whitehead and Claire Chatterton will reflect on nursing in that conflict. In an illustrated talk, based on work in progress, they will consider some of those women, who travelled long distances to care for sick and wounded soldiers far from home and will explore some of the current debates about their contributions and the nature of their work. As the Crimea is once again beset by war and conflict, it is timely to explore the impact of this earlier conflict on the development of nursing practice and mark its place in nursing history.
This talk will take place in CRV016 (the Music Room) at the Wheeler Building - all welcome.
