Marketing Management MSc, Marketing Job, Graduate Story, Graduate Loyalty Discount

MSc Marketing Management graduate, Charlotte tells us how she values the support she’s received from Chester as she pursues a career in Arts Marketing.

Charlotte returned to the University of Chester to study MSc Marketing Management and explains how the Graduate Loyalty Discount was a huge benefit which helped her to afford further study.

What were your motivations for undertaking a Postgraduate degree?

I'm originally from the Wirral but moved to Chester in 2012 to study my undergraduate degree in English Language and History, and I have lived here ever since.

After graduating, I started working in administration, then moved to sales and ended up as a Business Development Manager for a cosmetics manufacturer. From there I developed a keen interest in marketing. This course seemed a great fit to expand upon my business knowledge and delve deeper into marketing.

Why would you recommend MSc Marketing Management at Chester?

The course is incredibly varied and gives a great understanding of the many facets of business, what considerations are needed as a manager and how these areas all interconnect. I originally started studying on a MA Marketing course at another university, but felt somewhat overlooked. My undergraduate experience at the University of Chester made me appreciate just how much support is offered at Chester and I transferred courses. I'm so glad I did as the support from tutors, and my Personal Academic Tutor (PAT), have been incredibly valuable, especially during the pandemic! Another huge benefit of returning to Chester was being able to access the Graduate Loyalty Discount towards the cost of study!

What are your favourite aspects of the city of Chester and Queen’s Park?

I often describe Chester as my ideal city; it’s big enough to have everything that you would need, but small enough to walk easily from one end of the centre to the other. My walk to the Queen's Park site (where all business programmes are based), through Grosvenor Park is stunning - so that's a big plus!

How do you hope your course will shape your future?

My interest lies in the arts industry, particularly in arts marketing. My dissertation has given me the opportunity to work with a local theatre, giving me a great insight into an industry that I hope to work within one day soon. They've been incredibly helpful and it's nice knowing that the research I'm conducting as part of this course will be of use to them too.
