I would say Chester is a fantastic place for international students to live and study.

I was born in Nepal and grew up in the eastern city of Biratnagar. Before coming to Chester in the autumn of 2020, I studied an MBA at Infrastructure University, Kuala Lumpur and also worked as a Senior Counsellor for a large international education consultant called SI-UK. It was in this role where I learnt about the international student application process and UK educational system – this really helped with my preparation for student life in Chester!

I am currently studying MSc Digital Marketing and thoroughly enjoying the programme.

I was slightly nervous about moving to the UK and adjusting to a new culture. However, these feelings quickly disappeared after I arrived. I soon fell in love with the beautiful city of Chester. What really helps is the nature of the locals – they are so friendly and helpful and the city really does feel like a second home… apart from the weather! I would say Chester is a fantastic place for international students to live and study.

During my time as a student, I have made a real effort to embrace new opportunities outside of my studies. This includes being part of the University’s COVID-19 lateral flow testing team.

This testing service is for staff and students using campus facilities and was set up to identify asymptomatic infections and further ensure safety on campus.

In this role, I am responsible for briefing staff and students about their test, registering their details and answering their questions before guiding them to the testing area.

I feel very proud to be part of this team. Knowing I am playing a small part in keeping our campuses safe during a pandemic gives me immense satisfaction.
