 ADVANCED – Year 7  

Ideal for students who want to build upon previous qualifications such as “A” level or a degree. 

By the end of the advanced course you: 

  • Can understand a wide range of demanding, longer texts, and recognise implicit meaning.

  • Can express ideas fluently and spontaneously without much obvious searching for expressions.

  • Can use language flexibly and effectively for social, academic and professional purposes.

  • Can produce clear, well-structured, detailed text on complex subjects, showing controlled use of organisational patterns, connectors and cohesive devices.

ADVANCED+ – Year 8

Ideal for students who consider themselves quite fluent but want to “top up”.

By the end of the proficiency course you: 

  • Can understand with ease virtually everything heard or read.

  • Can summarise information from different spoken and written sources, reconstructing arguments and accounts in a coherent presentation.

  • Can express him/herself spontaneously, very fluently and precisely, differentiating finer shades of meaning even in the most complex situations.

Courses are in line with the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) for Languages which divides learners into 3 divisions, A, B & C and 6 levels from A1 – C2.  The CEFR describes what a learner is supposed to be able to do in reading, listening, speaking and writing at each level.

Proficiency

At this stage, you are an advanced language user and can understand virtually everything said in everyday conversation. You are able to summarize different spoken and written sources and can express yourself more fluently.This course is designed for those who have completed Advanced + (Year 8) or equivalent.
