Printing
The University has a centrally managed system for self service and other printing, photocopying and scanning based on a range of options for students and staff.
Networked Ricoh multifunction devices (MFD) provided across all campuses, for medium volume black/white and color printing, photocopying and scanning tasks. A ‘follow you’ system allows you to collect printing from any MFD on any campus, using your University card as authentication.
Printing can be sent from any of the open access computers, Macs, loan or personal laptops (at participating sites)
Students need to credit their print/copying account before using these devices, via the value loaders located on the main campuses or at the LIS Helpdesks at Clatterbridge. Value loaders are located:
- Chester Campus – Seaborne Library and Chritchley Building
- Kingsway – Room CKW107
- Riverside – Library
- Warrington Campus - Broomhead Library
- Clatterbridge - Library
Student prices for printing and photocopying via the Ricoh multifunction devices are:
- Black/white A4 and A3 - single sided 3p, double sided 4p
- Colour A4 and A3 - single sided 11p, double sided 16p
- Scanning to email is free of charge
Staff print accounts will operate without being credited first, and so will always be shown on the Ricoh devices as a negative balance. Departments will be charged on a monthly basis for staff use of these devices
Saving Work
Each student and member of staff is allocated space on the University network called your "Y" drive. This is secure file storage and is backed up. USB stick/pen/flash drives can be purchased from any LIS Helpdesk and can be used in any Windows or Mac computer.
