We are pleased to advise that the External Visitor Access Scheme has been reopened.

SCONUL Access Scheme

Users wishing to join the Library through the SCONUL Access scheme should bring a passport-sized photo with them, as well as an authorised SCONUL Access email or card and their library card from their home institution.

University of Chester library cards can take a few days to produce so new users cannot borrow material immediately. Those who join the Library through the SCONUL Access scheme are entitled to borrow up to four items at a time from the main collections excluding the short and one week loan collections, children's books, school experience material, and audio-visual equipment and material.

The Thornton Science Park is a closed site and joining us through the SCONUL Access scheme does not allow access in person to the site. Any requests for loan items from the Sutton Library at the Thornton Science Park can be made at any other University library but will take a minimum of one working day to retrieve.

Normal library regulations, including fines for late return of books, will apply. Journals are not available for loan to any borrower. Photocopying and printing facilities are available – please ask at the Helpdesk for details.

Special agreements exist where specified staff from certain local NHS Trusts and health care providers may register as external borrowers at the Library or at hospital libraries maintained by the University of Chester.

Please contact the Helpdesk (lis.helpdesk@chester.ac.uk) for more information about these agreements.
