Formal teaching for Mathematics courses will be delivered at Parkgate Road in Chester from April 2021. The university will still own the Thornton site which will be used for research purposes. The close links that currently exist between the University and the companies based at Thornton will continue.

The Mathematical and Physical Sciences Department is located on the University’s Thornton Science Park. This offers our students the unique opportunity to study in excellent facilities which are alongside on-site science and technology employers. This modern learning environment has been designed with the aim of maximising the employability of our graduates.

At undergraduate level, we offer an innovative programme leading to a BSc degree.

Our postgraduate taught programme attracts many students to study Maths. We can offer either part time or full time study leading to MSc, PG Dip or PG Cert qualifications.

We have an active research group focusing on Computational Applied Mathematics, with research students studying for the degrees of MPhil and PhD, postdoctoral workers and associated collaborators from across the world.
