B1 Preliminary (formerly known as Cambridge English: Preliminary (PET)

The certificate in B1 Preliminary, is a basic level qualification and proof that you have mastered the basics of English and have practical language skills.

  • It will help develop you to communicate in English for practical tasks and everyday situations.
  • It is a worldwide recognised certification and will help you to improve your work and study prospects.
  • Over 20,000 organisations around the world accept this qualification.

Overview of the Course

  • This course will run one evening per week from 6.30pm-8.30pm at the University of Chester, Parkgate Road Campus, Chester, CH1 4BJ.
  • The price will be £175 for Part 1 - 12 weeks and £175 for Part 2 -12 weeks.
  • A course book will be required (at extra cost) and the tutor will advise of this prior to the commencement of the course.
  • An initial assessment of each student's English level will be made during the 1st class
  • An ILP (Independent Learning Plan) will be given to each student.
  • There will be the opportunity to take an examination in this course at an approved Cambridge English external examination centre at the end of the course (at extra cost).

In the event that a course does not run due to minimum numbers a refund will be given for the relevant number of weeks.  We regret we are unable to grant refunds for any other reason after the course has started.  Please note there may be an administration charge for any refund requested.
