Dr Wendy Dossett Associate Professor of Religious Studies and Principal Investigator of the Higher Power Project, has been interviewed for a ground-breaking BBC 2 documentary.
Religion is more than just what people believe. It’s how they think, what they do, and who they feel connected to. It shapes every aspect of our world.
In the Department of Theology and Religious Studies at the University of Chester, the study of religion and philosophy encompasses 4,000 years of history and every continent. Members of the Department are experts on a wide range of traditions, such as Christianity, Buddhism, Islam, Judaism, and New Religious Movements. But they are also experts on things you might not expect, from animal welfare to addiction recovery, dieting, environmental sustainability, gender and sexuality, and even international politics.
Our videos look at these issues through the lens of religion, which helps us to understand the deep connections between seemingly separate events, and gain insight into what shapes people’s choices and behaviour.
Studying religion and philosophy gives you the knowledge and the skills not just to understand the world that you’re living in, but to change it.
