University isn’t all work and no play; there is a huge range of sports and societies to get involved with, as well as beautiful parts of the city to explore and visit to unwind. But don’t just take our word for it - see what our students have been saying on our #100students100stories page.
Sian is one of our BSc Nutrition and Dietetics students. She took a break from her studies to tick a goal off her bucket list. What was that goal? Running the Chester Half Marathon. She did it alongside her friends in the University of Chester Tennis Team, who all took part to challenge themselves to something new:
If just the thought of running 13.1 miles is getting you out of breath, and you want a more relaxed break from study, maybe you should take a page out of Sophie’s book? She is currently studying a Masters in Theology and when she needs a break from work, she visits the Chester Meadows with friends to recharge her batteries and get some well-deserved rest:
Food Science and Innovation student Picha also takes a more laid-back approach to relaxing in Chester. With such fantastic architecture, and history to learn about in every corner of our city, she has filled her Instagram account with lots of unique and interesting images that inspire her to keep on exploring:
Georgia summarised nicely how many students feel when they first move to Chester. Having moved here three years ago to start her degree in Religious Studies, she is now enrolling to start her Postgraduate degree with us next year as she never wants her experience to end!
With over 100 different sports teams and societies to get involved with, there is something for everyone to try. Becky, one of our Psychology students, tried her hand at something a bit more unusual to the more mainstream sports. Joining the Quiddich team in her second year brought a really unique experience to her time here at the University of Chester:
At the end of each year, Chester Students’ Union hosts award nights for both the Sports teams and Societies. The presentation evenings honour those who have gone the extra mile in supporting their teams and peers within their club or society. Alannah founded Chester Students’ Union Running club and was the president for two years while studying her degree in Geography. She is now handing the title over to one of the club’s other members as she leaves us to start a graduate scheme with a leading engineering firm in Sheffield.
