  • Complete your application by our priority deadline - 10th June

Should I apply for accommodation even if Chester is my Insurance choice?

Yes, we’d suggest applying for accommodation even if Chester is your Insurance choice as this will make things easier for you should you change your mind.

Is there a deposit for all types of accommodation?

For all University accommodation, there is a deposit of £250 to be paid once you’ve received your results and confirmed your place to study at Chester. The deposit is in place to secure the room and can be retained if there are damages to the room. The deposit is deducted from the last term’s rent payment.

Deposits vary for partnership accommodation options so check the provider’s website for more details.

What laundry facilities are there?

We have a card operated launderette on-site at Exton Park (Parkgate Road) in Chester for students to use. A number of our accommodation options located nearer the city centre have their own laundry facilities. Our students at our accommodation in both Shrewsbury and Warrington also benefit from the use of their own launderette.

Is there parking on site?

Due to our sustainability strategy and the limited amount of parking spaces across all of our sites, the University doesn’t offer parking to residential students. There are great transport links in Chester, Warrington and Shrewsbury with train and bus stations only a short walk away. All of our sites are in central locations and it’s easy to get around by either cycling or on foot.

We do however offer on-site parking for all commuting students – you simply apply for a parking permit.

What are the advantages of full-board accommodation?

Our full-board accommodation is the perfect option for those who want to learn how to budget and perhaps don’t like the idea of cooking for themselves. At Chester, we offer a wide range of freshly cooked meals served in a number of our catering outlets on or around each of the sites. Each outlet serves a different type of food so there’s something to suit everyone’s taste and budget.

What are the shared kitchens like?

In self-catered accommodation, you can expect to typically share a kitchen with 3-6 other people. All kitchens have ovens, fridges, freezers, microwaves, kettles and toasters for you to use.

‘I’m going to be studying at Riverside – which accommodation should I choose? Near to where I’m studying or at Exton Park (Parkgate Road) close to the facilities?’

It’s entirely your choice. Think about what kind of accommodation you’d like to live in – do you want catered accommodation? Would you like an en-suite? The type of accommodation you’d like to live in may influence its location. Thankfully, at Chester, everything is within walking distance and very easy to get to. So, wherever you live, you won’t be missing out on anything.

How do I view the different accommodation options?

You can view your accommodation options on the Accommodation pages on our website. Here you’ll also see details of our partnership accommodation in Chester.

What is partnership accommodation?

In Chester we work with selected private providers who offer a mix of studios and self-catered en-suite flat shares. This is a great option for those who want modern facilities with the convenience of city or town-centre amenities right on their doorstep. Your experience will be much the same as University accommodation in that you will be placed with other students from the University. However, please note that partnership accommodation is not owned by the University and as such your contract would be with the private provider.

If you would like to find out more about living in student accommodation, you can ask our friendly team of student ambassadors any questions you may have. They are always happy to help and are available to chat online 24/7.
