On the blog this week, Angie Holmes (1983) has shared with us some photos from her time at Chester College…
Angie moved into accommodation on campus for her first year in 1980. She said: “I lived it Margaret House, Room 16 on the top floor, overlooking the Library and Sports Pavilion. We had a lovely ‘College mum’ called Christine Shepherd, who we could turn to for advice or support after moving away from home for the first time. She was a third year student and I’m still in touch with her now via Facebook!”
“Our accommodation was very clean and well looked after – we had a cleaner called Mrs Potts who came into our rooms once a week to clean the sinks and vacuum etc. We had baths, showers and toilets on all floors which were communal. Also, a tiny kitchen with a toaster, kettle and electric two ring hob. We were fully catered for meals wise – three two-course meals and mid-afternoon we could have ‘baby tea’ which consisted of a tea urn, biscuits and bread and jam.”
“During Rag Week everyone in halls took part in the Pyjama Parade through town – but that’s another story!”
