Welcome back to the alumni blog! This week, we are joined by Student Blog Editor for Careers and Employability, Brittany Saunders. Brittany is currently studying Creative Writing and English Literature here at the University. In this week’s blog post, she tells you everything you need to know about Careers Fest…

“The time has finally come… The long-awaited Careers Fest is finally here and it’s going to be brilliant!

“For those of you who don’t know anything about it, I’ll break it down for you…

WHAT is it?

“Careers Fest is the University’s annual careers fair for current students and recent graduates!* It will be full of potential employers, providing you with the rare chance to meet and network with employers in person. It’s the perfect place to find opportunities including part-time work; graduate training schemes; graduate jobs; internships and much more!”

WHERE is it taking place?

“Find us in Downes Sports Hall, on the Parkgate Road Campus in Chester.”

WHEN is it?

“You can drop in any time on Wednesday November 28, from 10am until 2pm.

WHO will be there?

“A multitude of different businesses from a wide range of sectors will be there. Even if the type of business that you want to work for isn’t there, go anyway, as you never know what might come out of it!”

WHY should you go?

“This is probably the most important question of them all, but the real question is why wouldn’t you go?! When else are you going to get the chance to meet this many employers all in one place? Careers Fest is an amazing opportunity to explore a range of career options. You might end up considering working somewhere you might never even have thought about before! Don’t limit yourself to one idea and keep an open mind

“These businesses are attending as they have employment opportunities and they want to meet you. Careers Fest is a great way to meet new people and to explore your options in an informal environment.

Top Tip: Bring along some CVs to hand out and don’t be afraid to ask questions – engage with the employers who will be there!

“Remember to also visit the Careers and Employability Student Futures stand while you’re there. We’ll help you to kick-start your career, whether you have career aspirations in mind or not. You can also find out about all the services and support available through the Student Futures Department.

“See you there!”
