BSc Accounting and Finance students were joined by a team from the Bank for a talk about what the company does around the world and careers within the organisation. The students were also able to discuss ‘a day in the life’ of  various roles within the Bank as part of the talk.

The students attended the talk as part of their level six case study module, which includes applying accounting skills in a case study context and developing key employability skills.

Helen Clayfield, Programme Leader for Accounting and Finance, said: “The students really enjoyed this session with Bank of America Merrill Lynch. It was an excellent opportunity for them to learn more about the Bank, its operations locally and around the globe, and career options within finance. Students were able to discover the structure of a typical day in a variety of key roles and ask questions.”

She added: “These events are always so important and informative for the students as they consider and plan their career options after graduating. It allows our students to explore the skills the organisation may be looking for in graduates and they can also enquire about the recruitment process.”

Gary Pugsley, Vice President Business Finance Control Profit and Loss Lead, from Bank of America Merrill Lynch, said: “It was great for the four of us to take some time out of the office to come to the University of Chester and talk to a group of students about Bank of America as an organisation and what we do in Chester, particularly within finance. The students appeared engaged and asked some insightful questions so hopefully they enjoyed it and learned about the Bank and potential career paths for the future.”
